Canada, Here We Are!

Canada, Here We Are! travelling exhibition honours the contributions of Ukrainian Canadians to our country. 

Created in partnership with the Ukrainian Canadian Congress and Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in Vancouver, Canada, Here We Are! looks at and celebrates the more than 1.3 million Canadians who can trace their ancestry to Ukraine. The exhibition showcases Ukrainian Canadian history and culture, and the enduring impact Ukrainians have had on life in Canada.

“This exhibit helps Canadians and newcomers to this great country to understand the most important steps of our community's 131 years long journey in Canada and the most significant contributions made to enriching Canada's multicultural landscape and strengthening its social, cultural, and economic life. This exhibit also presents a wonderful opportunity for Ukrainian Canadians to reflect on their rich heritage and culture and the ways of giving back to the land where they have made their homes," says Natalie Jatskevich, president of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress – BC Provincial Council.

The exhibition first came to life in 2016 as Bread & Salt to celebrate the 125^th anniversary of Ukrainians in Canada and was updated to reflect the community sentiments since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February, 2022.
